Glossary
Configuration file
The configuration file contains settings that are required for configuring your PC. When
you power up your PC, the
operating system
looks for the configuration file and makes
the settings entered there.
Configuration menu
The configuration menu (Setup menu) is used to enter the technical conditions, e.g.
type and number of drives, memory configuration and expansions. The configuration
menu has to be updated if any changes are made to the configuration of your PC.
Controller
A controller controls data input/output between the various parts of a computer.
Coprocessor
The coprocessor is a component that can be plugged into the
processor board
and
supports the processor in performing complex mathematical operations.
Current directory
The
directory
in which you are currently working.

Cursor
The cursor is generally a flashing marker (e.g. rectangle or underscore) on the
screen
.
It indicates where the next character you enter will be displayed.
Data cable
A data cable is a connecting cable used for data transport (e.g. between the PC and a
printer
).
DD disk
A DD disk is a
floppy disk
that permits double density recording.
Default drive
The default drive is the one in which the
operating system
stores or looks for
files
when
no drive is specified.
