1)
Output circuits: These contacts must be incorporated into the control such that the dan‐
gerous state is brought to an end if the output circuit is open. For categories 4 and 3, they
must be incorporated on dual-channels (x, y paths). Type 2 devices are suitable for use up
to PL c. Single-channel incorporation into the control (z path) is only possible with a single-
channel control and taking the risk analysis into account.

Task
Connection of a multiple light beam safety device deTem4 A/P to a RLY3-OSSD1
safety relay. Operating mode: with restart interlock, external device monitoring
(EDM), and application diagnostic output. IO-Link: data output via IO-Link connec‐
tor.
•
Mode of operation
If the light path is clear and the RLY3-OSSD1 is in a fault-free de-energized posi‐
tion, the INFO LED and the H2 lamp flash. The system can be switched on. The
system is enabled by pressing S1 (pushbutton is pressed and released). Outputs
OSSD1 and OSSD2 carry voltage, the RLY3-OSSD1 is switched on. When the light
path is interrupted, the OSSD1 and OSSD2 outputs switch the RLY3-OSSD1 off.
Status and fault information, as well as diagnostics data, can be transferred
directly to an IO-Link master via IO-Link connectors.
•
Fault analysis
Cross-circuits and short-circuits of the OSSDs are recognized and lead to the lock‐
ing state (lock-out). The malfunction of the RLY3-OSSD1 is detected. The shut-
down function is retained. Manipulation (e.g., jamming) of the S1 pushbutton pre‐
vents the output current circuits from being enabled.
