Section 03 ENGINE SYSTEM
Subsection 04 (EXHAUST SYSTEM)

1. Engine manifold
2. Exhaust pipe flange
CAUTION:
Exhaust pipe alignment with the
manifold is critical to the bellows life. Any
constraint on the flexible joint will result in
the bellows failure. Gap between the exhaust
pipe flange and the engine manifold should
not exceed 0.5 mm (1/64 in).
Position clamps
no. 2
to the top portion of the muf-
fler hose. The neighbor clamps must be separat-
ed by 4 - 5 mm (5/32 - 3/16 in) and the screws
must be at least 25 mm (1 in) apart. Tighten both
upper clamps then torque the bottom clamp.

2. Muffler hose
3. Muffler hose clamp 4 - 5 mm (5/32 - 3/16 in) apart
4. Bottom clamp
Finalize alignment by rotating (axially) and mov-
ing (longitudinally) the muffler so that the exhaust
pipe flange makes perfect contact with the engine
manifold. A maximum gap of 0.5 mm (1/64 in) is
allowed.
Torque the exhaust clamp
no. 6
to 11 N•m
(97 lbf•
in
) while firmly maintaining the exhaust
pipe in the proper position.
