8.1  General

A sea chest is located in the aft systems room 

bilge supplies seawater to the raw water pumps.  

Two intake thru-hull fittings for the sea chest are 

equipped with ball valves to turn the raw water 

main supply to the sea chest ON or OFF.  Other 

ball valves at the outlet connections on the sea 

chest enable the operator to turn the water sup-

ply ON or OFF for each individual pump in the 

system.  A sea strainer in each intake supply hose 

filters debris as seawater flows to the sea chest.  

The strainers should be checked frequently and 

cleaned as necessary.

Always make sure all ball valves are open before 

attempting to operate any component of the raw 

water system.  

Priming the System

Open all sea chest intake and raw water pump 

supply ball valves.  The sea chest is vented to a 

thru-hull fitting in the hull side to automatically 

purge air from the sea chest as it fills.  Activate 

the raw water pump systems with the CZone

RAW WATER SYSTEM

Raw Water System Sea Chest 

control feature.  Run the pressure pump by turn-

ing on the raw water washdown hose nozzle at 

the rear of the hardtop until all air is purged from 

the system. Then turn the hose off.  Activate the 

baitwell pump with the CZone control feature and 

run the pump until all of the air is purged from
