boxes on each side of the aft systems room. These
circuit breakers protect the electronic steering and
auxiliary engine charging circuits for each engine.
Main breakers or fuses located on each engine
protect the ignition systems and gauges. Ya-
maha and Mercury engine electrical circuits are
protected by fuses located in a fuse panel on the
side of the engine. The fuse panel is equipped
with a spare fuse for each circuit. Always replace
fuses used with the fuse specified by the engine
manufacturer. Refer to the engine owner’s manual
for more information on the fuses, fuse panels or
circuit breakers on your engines.
CAUTION
PROPER FUSE OR BREAKER PROTECTION MUST BE PROVIDED
FOR ALL 12 VOLT EQUIPMENT ADDED. DO NOT OVERLOAD
THE ACCESSORY CIRCUIT BREAKERS OR OTHER CIRCUITRY
THROUGH ADDITIONAL 12 VOLT EQUIPMENT.
6.3 Batteries and Battery Switches
The DC electrical system on your boat is designed
for wet cell or absorb glass mat (AGM) marine bat-
teries. Do not attempt to use gel cell or batteries
not recommended by the engine manufacturers.
The engine charging system and/or the battery
chargers may not be able to recharge these bat-
teries properly which could cause unusually short
battery life, engine starting problems and damage
to the DC charging systems. You also should not
mix the size or brand of the wet cell or AGM bat-
teries. Always consult your Scout dealer before
changing the type of batteries in your boat.
Your boat has provision for four or five batteries
in the electrical systems room below the leaning
post/helm seats. There is one battery for each
engine and one for the house, generator and elec-
tronics circuits. The batteries supplied by Scout
are the size and capacity batteries recommended
by the engine manufacturers. These specifica -
tions should be considered to be the minimum
size battery required.
