A non-through cut does not extend through 
the entire thickness of the workpiece. In this 
case you cannot use the blade guard and 
splitter but must use the riving knife instead.

Remove the blade guard and install the riving 
knife (

see page 33

). If the non-through cut 

is a rip cut use the fence.
