ATTACHING THE POWER HEAD TO THE
TRIMMER ATTACHMENT
WARNING
Never attach or adjust any attachment while
power head is running. Failure to stop the engine
may cause serious personal injury.
The trimmer attachment (69) connects to the power head
by means of a coupler (70) device.
■
Loosen the knob (61) on the coupler of the power
head shaft (63) and remove the end cap from the
attachment.
■
Push in the button (67) located on the trimmer
attachment shaft. Align the button with the guide
recess (66) on the power head coupler and slide the
two shafts together.
■
Rotate the trimmer attachment shaft until the button
locks into the positioning hole (68).
Note:
If the button does not release completely in
the positioning hole, the shafts are not locked
into place. Slightly rotate from side to side until the
button is locked into place.
■
Tighten the knob securely.
WARNING
Be certain the knob is fully tightened before
operating equipment; check it periodically for
tightness during use to avoid serious injury.
REMOVING THE ATTACHMENT FROM THE
POWER HEAD
For removing or changing the attachment:
■
Loosen the knob.
■
Push in the button and twist the shafts to remove and
separate ends.
HANDLE (Fig. 2)
■
Place the handle bar (18) in the bottom clamp (19)
located on the shaft (8) housing.
NOTE:
The throttle trigger (9) must be mounted to the
operator's right side.
■
Insert the square tab of top clamp (17) into the
mounting hole of the bottom clamp.
■
Adjust the handle bar for best operator control in a
comfortable upright position.
■
Install the knob (20) and tighten securely.
ATTACHING THE SHOULDER STRAP (Fig. 3)
■
Connect the latch (22) on the shoulder strap (4) to the
strap hanger (2).
■
Adjust the shoulder strap hanger to a balanced
position where the blade or cutter attachment will
suspend between 100 mm to 300 mm above the
ground surface.
■
Adjust the strap hanger to a comfortable position (25).
Note:
To quickly release the product from the
shoulder strap, sharply pull the quick release tab (21).
GRASS DEFLECTOR AND BLADE GUARD USE
(Fig. 5)
NOTE:
When converting from brushcutter to trimmer,
or trimmer to brushcutter, make sure the correct guard/
deflector is being used.
BLADE GUARD (Fig. 6)

Attach the blade guard (5) to the mounting bracket
(30); install the four screws (10-24 x 3/4 in) from the
top of the mounting clamp through the blade guard
and into the threaded mounting plates (32).
■
Using the torque wrench supplied, tighten all four
screws securely.
NOTE
: When using the string head (36), the grass
deflector (14) must be attached to blade guard.
GRASS DEFLECTOR (Fig. 5)
■
Attach the grass deflector (14) to the blade guard by
placing the three locking tabs (33) into the three
notches (31).
■
Snap the blade guard and grass deflector together to
lock into place.
WARNING
Always stop the engine and remove the sparking
plug wire before making any adjustments such
as changing cutting heads; this is to reduce the
risk of serious personal injury.
CONVERTING FROM STRING TRIMMER TO
BRUSHCUTTER
REMOVING THE STRING HEAD (Fig. 6)
■
Align the slot in the upper flange washer (34) with the
hole in the gear head (7). Place the holding pin (35)
through the slot in the upper flange washer and the
hole in the gear head. Turn the spool retainer (37)
clockwise to remove. Remove the spool (50) and
string head (36) from the drive connector (38).
