DP-13 Descaling Pump
5. Switch off the pump.
Descaling Operation
1. Open the tank cap and fill the tank with descaling
solution to make sure that the pump rotor housing
is submerged during operation. Do not fill the tank
beyond Max Level,
see Figure 1.
NOTE: Keep the tank cap open during operation to
monitor the descaling solution level inside the tank
and to vent the gases formed during descaling oper-
ation. Refer to the descaling chemical instructions for
information on nature of the vent gases formed and
follow all safety instructions.
2. Switch on the pump by moving the I-O-II switch to I
position.
3. The pump will start circulating the descaling solution
throughout the system.
Maintain the descaling solution level in the tank, to be
above the pump impellor and below the MAX level
mark.
If there is excessive formation of foam while cleaning,
switch off the pump and wait until it dies down. Dilution
of solution with water may be required if foaming per-
sists. Use descaling chemicals with foam inhibitors to
prevent foam building up in the pump tank.
4. Move I-O-II Switch position from I to II after every 5
minutes to descale the system from both directions.
This improves system descaling. Continue to change
position of I-O-II switch during operation.
5. Refer to the descaling chemical instructions for infor-
mation on completion of descaling operation. Gener-
ally, the descaling operation is complete, when the
flow of descaling solution does not have any foam
formation and the descaling solution does not lose its
color.
6. Move the I-O-II switch to O-Off position.
7. Carefully drain the descaling solution from the system.
Dispose of the descaling solution as per descaling
chemical instructions and in compliance with all ap-
plicable regulations.
8. Move the I-O-II switch to O-Off position and discon-
nect the pump power supply.
9. Make sure the pump tank is empty and disconnect the
pump connections from the system. Flush the pump,
tank and hoses to remove all descaling chemicals per
the descaling chemical instructions. Cap the hoses.
use of the selected descaling chemicals. Contact the
chemical manufacturer for required information.
6. Prepare the system to be descaled as per system
maintenance and operation instructions. Make sure
that the temperature of the system is well below
50 °C and there is no heat addition to the system.
Release pressure from the system, turn off the incom-
ing supply and bleed the system. Vented systems may
need to be capped off or looped together. Make suit-
able arrangement for the expansion devices. Follow
general good practices and local authority guidelines
depending on the type of system being descaled.
7. Evaluate the work area and determine if any barriers
are needed to keep bystanders away from the desca-
ling pump and work area. The descaling process can
be messy with the use of chemicals and bystanders
can distract the operator.
Connecting the Pump
1. Confirm that the pump is unplugged and I-O-II switch
is in the O-OFF position. .
2. Connect the pump hoses to the inlet and outlet of the
system – do not over tighten. If required, use adapters
for connection.
3. Run the cord along a clear path. With dry hands, plug
the descaling pump into a properly grounded outlet.
Keep all connections dry and off the ground. If the
power cord is not long enough, use an extension cord
that:
• Is in good condition..
• Has a plug similar to that supplied on the descaling
pump.
• Is rated for outdoor use and contains a W or W-A
in the cord designation (i.e. SOW), or complies
with H05VV-F, H05RN-F types or IEC type design
(60227 IEC 53, 60245 IEC 57).
• Has sufficient wire size. For extension cords up to
50' (15,2 m) long use 16 AWG (1,5mm
2
) or heavier.
For extension cords 50'-100' (15,2m – 30,5m) long
use 14 AWG (2,5mm
2
) or heavier.
If the outlet is not RCD protected, it is advisable to
use a plug-in type RCD between the outlet and the
extension cord to reduce the risk of shock if there is
a fault in the extension cord.
4. Check the operation of system with water as a start.
Following the operating instructions, fill the pump tank
with water, and move the I-O-II switch to I position.
Monitor the water level and add water if required.
Check all hoses and connections for leaks, and repair
as necessary.
