The
DGy 201x
can be controlled from the 100/1000 Base-T Ethernet
port using a command line interface (Telnet) or an embedded GUI (Web
Control Panel) via a standard web browser. The same set up procedure
is used for either type of control. The
DGy 201x
can be connected to a
standard LAN or directly as a peer-to-peer connection. Network settings
must be set prior to using it in either configuration.

IP ADDRESSES
When connecting systems via Ethernet, the setup of communications
parameters is automatic. However, because this is a network
connection, a unique address (known as the
IP address
) is required.
For proper operation,
DGy 201x
requires a fixed IP address (also known
as a
static
IP address). At the factory,
DGy 201x
is programmed with a
default IP address (
192.168.1.200
), but this address must be changed if
the
DGy 201x
will be used on a network.

Recommendation
: To use a
DGy 201x
on a Local Area
Network (LAN), change the unit’s IP address before putting it on
the network. This can be accomplished in one of two ways:
~
Use the serial port to change the unit’s IP address.
Refer to the
IP Address Setup via Serial Port
section
below.
~
Connect a
DGy 201x
directly to a PC using
DGy 201x
’s
Ethernet port. Refer to
IP Address Setup via Ethernet
on page 136 for details.
Important
Consult the network administrator to obtain a valid IP
address before commencing the network setup
procedure.
