Description of the devices protecting against electrical hazards
"
The 400V circuit is isolated from the vehicle's metal chassis.
"
The parts of the 400V circuit are electrically grounded on the vehicle (e.g. by grounding braids,
etc.). These connections protect the vehicle's occupants and the emergency services against
electric shocks.
"
The vehicle is fitted with a system that automatically disconnects the traction battery in the event
of an accident. However, it is imperative to follow the procedure before working on a vehicle that
has been involved in an accident.
"
Get out of the vehicle, lock the doors and wait 3 minutes for the vehicle to go to sleep before
opening the relays without causing any recharge action (connection of the plug).
"
Remove the safety circuit breaker to make sure that the 400V network is inactive.
"
5 minutes after opening the traction battery relay (after switching off the ignition or after a crash),
the voltage in the power components will be less than 60V.
Procedure for preventing electrical hazards
"
If the traction battery circuit breaker cannot be accessed, disconnect the 12V battery.
Note
: since certain consumers of electric power may still be active, disconnecting the 12V battery
may cause serious electric arcs. Take great care when performing this operation.
"
Always wear electric protective gloves
and a face screen
when working on the 400V
circuit (orange 400V cables and 400V components).
"
If the ignition key cannot be accessed, follow the procedure to cut off the 400V circuit by
removing the safety circuit breaker of the traction battery and to disconnect the 12V battery.
The procedures to remove the safety circuit breaker of the traction battery
and to lock out the 12V
battery in the ZOE vehicle are described in MR 457, chapter 01D.
