Remote access to the R220 Network Appliance
There are two ways to remotely access and manage the R220 Network Appliance. The easiest
way is to launch the MegaRAC GUI in a browser, as described below.
Alternatively, users and applications may send IPMI commands remotely to the R220 system
via the
ipmitool
utility and its command-line interface. Refer to
Accessing the MegaRAC GUI in the R220
You can access the MegaRAC GUI residing in the R220’s BMC from most of the mainstream
browsers.
1. In the address bar of the browser, enter the IP address of the BMC in the R220 system. The
default IP address is 192.168.0.250. If you are unable to log in with this address, it is
possible that the BMC “configuration address” has already been changed in the R220.
Refer to
Changing the BMC address in the R220 BIOS
for instructions on viewing or
changing the IP address.
2. In the login interface, enter your user name and password. The default user name and
password, giving full administrative rights, are both
admin.
3. Once you are in the MegaRAC GUI, navigate to the User Management page in the
Configuration menu to create new user accounts and set their user rights.
4. If you used the default IP address to log in to the MegaRAC GUI, navigate to the DNS
Server Settings page under the Configuration menu. Set the BMC IP address in the “DNS
Server Settings” option of either the IPv4 or IPv6 Domain Name Server Configuration
section.
You can now configure the R220 using the various menus in the MegaRAC GUI. For further
information on the menu options, refer to the
AMI MegaRAC SP-X User’s Guide.
Changing the BMC address in the R220 BIOS
The BMC’s IP address can be changed to a static or dynamic address in the BIOS setup utility
of the R220 Network Appliance.
1. Power on or restart the R220 Network Appliance, and press the F2 or Delete key during
the power-on self-test (POST) to enter the BIOS setup utility.
2. Navigate to the Server Mgmt > BMC Network Configuration menu.
