Rubber moldings
Rubber moldings around the doors and the
rear hood should be lightly coated with gly-
cerine or talcum to protect them against
freezing.
Locks
Locks can freeze in the winter if water gets
into the lock cylinders. W h e n washing your
car in the winter, do not aim the water jet
directly at the locks. It is a good idea to
tape the keyholes to prevent the water f r o m
seeping into the lock cylinder. W a t e r in the
locks must be removed w i t h c o m p r e s s e d air
afterwards. Squirt lock de-icer, antifreeze, or
glycerine into the lock cylinders to prevent
freezing.
To open a frozen lock, warm up the key be-
f o r e inserting it. Do not use hot w a t e r as it
will later freeze in the lock.
Emergency equipment
It is good planning to carry emergency
equipment in your car. S o m e of the things
you should have are: w i n d o w scraper, s n o w
brush, container or bag of sand or salt,
flares, small shovel, first-aid kit, etc.
Note: We recommend to have a maintenance
service p e r f o r m e d prior to the c o l d season
and in accordance w i t h the Maintenance
Schedule.
Operating your Porsche
in other Countries
G o v e r n m e n t regulations in the United States
and Canada require that automobiles meet
specific emission regulations and safety
standards. Therefore cars built for the U.S.
and Canada differ from vehicles sold in
other c o u n t r i e s .
If you plan to take your Porsche outside the
continental limits of the United States or
Canada, there is the possibility that
• unleaded fuel may not be available;
• unleaded fuel may have a considerably
lower octane r a t i n g . Excessive engine
knock and serious damage to both engine
and catalytic c o n v e r t e r could result;
• service may be inadequate due to lack of
proper service facilities, tools or diagno-
stic equipment;
• replacement parts may not be available
or v e r y difficult to get.
Porsche cannot be responsible f o r the m e -
chanical damage that could result because of
inadequate f u e l , service or parts availability.
If you bought your car abroad and w a n t to
bring it back home, be sure to find out about
shipping and f o r w a r d i n g requirements, as
well as current import and customs regula-
tions.
