NOTE: All audio controls actually affect the drive, not the sound board.
Improving Video Game Performance
The Prevent Low Speed Reading feature is useful if a video game played from a CD-
ROM seems choppy. To use this feature:
To use Prevent Low Speed Reading to improve video game performance:
1. Exit the video game.
2. In Windows, select My Computer; or select Windows Explorer.
3. In My Computer or Explorer, navigate until you see the drive icon for the Plextor
drive containing the video game disc.
4. Right-click (that is, click the right mouse button) on the Plextor drive icon and
select Properties to view the Properties dialog box.
5. In the Properties dialog box, click the Prevent Low Speed Reading check box to
on.
6. Start the game again.
7. After you are done playing the game, turn off the Prevent Low Speed Reading
check box to disable this feature and return to normal mode of operation.
Choosing Drive Speed
The Drive Speed drop-down list shows all supported reading speeds for the currently
enabled drive. The default setting is always the drive’s maximum reading speed.
For a number of reasons, attempting to use the drive’s maximum speed with a poorly
manufactured disc or discs with many scratches or fingerprints may actually cause
read performance to be poorer. (That is, slower reading.) In some cases, it may even
be impossible to read such discs. By selecting a slower reading speed in the drop-
down list, you may improve the drive’s overall reading performance.
