Select the collimator number 4.

Orientate the Cephalometric beam alignment tool so that it is vertical and then place it in the
cephalometric cassette holder. Position it so that it is on the left of the cassette holder (lateral
exposure position).

Select kilovolt and milliampere values high enough to enable the radiation beam to be seen in
a darkened room for example 62kV and 6mA. The actual values will depend on how dark the
room is.
Stand behind the tube head and protect yourself from radiation. Press and hold down the
exposure button. The image of the radiation beam from collimator number 4 will appear on
the alignment tool.
