If you are operating a redundant control system with two controllers, set the
system IP ad
-
dress
at the respective Ethernet interface. You cannot set the physical IP address of the
controllers at the respective Ethernet interface (“Physical IP of First Controller” and “Physi
-
cal IP of Second Controller” fields). They are set automatically based on the set system IP
address (see
).
The system IP addresses of the controller can be set automatically or manually in the “IP ad
-
dress” input field.
Setting IP addresses automatically
•
Select “automatic” from the “IP address assignment mode” drop-down list.

PLCnext Engineer automatically assigns
system IP addresses and physical IP ad-
dresses
to
both
controllers from the set IP address range (see
) as soon as a connection is established to the PRIMARY control-
ler (see
).
Setting IP addresses manually
•
Select “manual” from the “IP address assignment mode” drop-down list.

Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway in the respective input fields.
Prevent uncontrolled data transmission
If you assign a gateway for
each
Ethernet interface, uncontrolled data transmission
can take place via all the Ethernet interfaces.
• To prevent uncontrolled data transmission via all the Ethernet interfaces, assign a
gateway
for just one
Ethernet interface.
Please note:
You cannot enter anything in the “Physical IP of First Controller” and “Physical IP of
Second Controller” input fields. The physical IP addresses of the first and second con
-
troller at the respective Ethernet interface are entered automatically in these input
fields.
