7.1.2 Preparing the second controller
Switching on the power
supplies
• Switch on the power supplies.
Assigning redundancy
type “Second”
• Assign redundancy type “Second” to the second controller, see Section 4.11.7.2 .
During initial startup, the redundancy role BACKUP is automatically assigned to the
controller with redundancy type “Second”.
Synchronization After you have assigned redundancy type “Second” to the second controller, the two con -
trollers synchronize with each other.
During synchronization, the system IP addresses are transferred from the PRIMARY con
-
troller to the BACKUP controller. The physical IP addresses of both controllers at the re -
spective interface are set automatically based on the set system IP address, see “ “Redun -
dancy operation” section in Section 4.12.2 .
Following successful synchronization, perform all the other startup steps in the
PLCnext Engineer software, see Section 7.2 .
7.1.3 Preparing the controller for “SingleMode”
If you are operating your application with just one RFC 4072R (“SingleMode” redundancy
status):

type “None”
• Assign redundancy type “None” to the controller, see Section 4.11.7.2 .
Optional:
Setting IP addresses on
the device
In the delivery state, the preset IP addresses for Ethernet interfaces LAN1, LAN2, and
LAN3.1/3.2 are as follows:
– IP address at LAN1: 192.168.1.10
– IP address at LAN2: 192.168.2.10
– IP address at LAN3.1/LAN3.2: 192.168.3.10
The preset IP addresses are used as the physical IP address at the respective Ethernet in
-
terface.
Please note:
If you later wish to operate your application with two RFC 4072R controllers, the pre -
set IP addresses at LAN1, LAN2, and LAN3.1/LAN3.2 will be used as system IP ad -
dresses. The physical IP addresses at the Ethernet interfaces will then be set
automatically.
For information on physical and system IP addresses, please refer to Section 4.12.2 .
• If necessary, change the preset IP addresses via the display of controller, as described
in Section 4.11.3.2 .
Please note:
The IP addresses of interfaces LAN1, LAN2, and LAN3.1/3.2 must be in different sub -
nets.
