- The cylinder should show no traces of scoring
or seizure.

- The rings must be free in their grooves.

Checking the piston rings
- Carefully remove the piston rings.
- Place a ring in the bore parallel to it and
measure the gap using a feeler gauge.
Piston ring gap:
• Top compression ring gap: 0.2 to 0.4 mm.
• Compression ring gap: 0.25 to 0.4 mm.
• Oil control ring gap: 0.2 to 0.7 mm.
