View ing in reflectance
When the microscope
is set for viewing in reflectance (Figure 6):
•
Mirror M4, above the cassegrain, receives light from the illuminator and directs
it down through the cassegrain C2. M4 is a relay mirror that directs the beam
down one side of cassegrain C2 to the sample.
•
Cassegrain C2 collects light from the sample and sends it upward through the
remote aperture.
•
While viewing, laser and infrared radiation are blocked from reaching the
sample.
