NOTE
: There may be some degree of pulling and pushing on the wires during the reader install process.
Crimp each B connector
three times
to ensure the wire pairs are held securely in the wire splice
and will not disconnect. After all wires are paired and crimped, wrap the wire bundle securely
with electrical tape around the B connectors so they remain together and for ease when
pulling/pushing the bundle through the wall.
In addition to the colored wires extending from the
touch io
, the thicker, coated antenna wire
separate from the wire bundle, with the brass fitting at the end (the MCX cable), is to be
attached to the back of the
.
6. Prepare to mount the patch antenna to the room’s
inside
surface by drilling a hole for the MCX antenna
wire to pass through, from the
touch io
reader to the inside wall, opposite and directly on the other side,
to the location where the patch antenna will be mounted to the wall’s surface.
NOTE
: The orientation of the antenna on the wall’s surface has no bearing on its effectiveness.
7. Once the MCX antenna cable is passed through the wall, snap the cable’s brass fitting securely to the
back of the antenna. Press and hold the adhesive foam tape side of the antenna to the wall’s surface for
several seconds, ensuring it is securely affixed. Snap the plastic friction-fit cap into place to cover and
protect the antenna.
