Using Autobaud
n
✦
Do Not
send any data to the printer before using autobaud.
✦
Autobaud is only available on the 9494 and 9490 printers.
You can use the autobaud feature to automatically set the
printer’s baud rate, parity, data bits, and stop bits to match the
host’s. To use autobaud, you must:
1.
Power up the host first and then turn on the printer.
Autobaud only works during the initial power up. Wait 2 to
5 seconds.
2.
After the LED indicator becomes solid green or amber,
send a sequence of 32 alternating
@A
characters (for a
total of 64 characters) to the printer.
Example
@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A
@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A@A
n
Do Not
use character pacing (delay for each character) or any
other delay while sending the autobaud sequence.
Wait one second after sending the autobaud sequence before
sending any commands or data to the printer During this time,
the hardware is being changed to the new settings.
3.
To select flow control and finalize communications, send
the communication settings packet. Or, use the Optional
Entry method described in Chapter 6, "Printing."
Example
{
I
,F,,,,,3
p
}
This packet sets the flow control parameter to XON/XOFF,
without changing the current communication settings
established with Autobaud.
