CLEANING AND LUBRICATION
CLEANING
Do not use petroleum-based or other harsh chemical cleaners.
Clean external surfaces including the windows using non-abrasive
cleaners, such as Fantastik® or 409, or a glass cleaner. Isopropyl alcohol
may be used to remove ink. Apply either with a soft, lint-free cloth or
paper towels. Never use cleaner on internal surfaces, shafts, and
mechanisms.
When using a spray cleaner, apply cleaner to the cloth or paper towel
rather than spraying the printer directly. Especially, avoid spraying
cleaner into air vents, the operator access, or other opening where the
cleaner could contact ribbon, printheads, paper, electronics, or other
sensitive areas.
A vacuum cleaner can be used to pick up paper dust and the like. Never
use a blower. However, on four-printhead models, avoid using vacuum on
or near the printhead carriage: the carriage mechanism in the four-
printhead model contains an optical tracking device that could be affected
if dust or dirt is vacuumed into the optical tracking device.
LUBRICATION
All bearings, hinges, and other mechanisms do not require lubrication, or
are lubricated for life.
