5. Ask the patient to:
a. Place their hands in their lap and their feet flat on the floor.
b. Follow the alignment target as they move in close to the device. Refer to the
c. Turn their head slightly so that their nose is on the outside of the face pad. You should check
that the patient's head is vertical and that any tilting is minimized.
d. Ask the patient to rest their forehead on the head rest. The patient's mouth should be closed to
reduce movement during image capture.
e. Use the hand control to adjust the chin rest height to support the patient's chin, see
on page 32. Check that the patient's chin does not go beyond the edge of the chin
rest, as this may affect the quality of the image. For some patients you may need to lower the
chin rest from the default nominal position before aligning the patient.
f. Ask the patient to confirm that they are comfortable, that their head is firmly supported by the
head rest and chin rest, and that their teeth are together and mouth closed.

6. Check that the pupil is stable in the live view and that the patient's head is not tilted.
7. Ask the patient to look at their chosen corner of the alignment target, and remain still while you make
any final adjustments to the scan head to the correct alignment position.
8. Adjust the alignment. The alignment target will change to green when the scan head is the correct
distance from the patient's eye. If the target turns red the scan head is too close. If the target turns
blue the scan head is too far away.
l
When aligning the patient the center of the cross hairs should be close to the center of the pupil
as possible.
l
In some instances you may choose to capture an image when the patient is aligned to the blue
or red target. If the patient has an

or small pupils you may choose to capture when the
target is red. If the patient has very large pupils you may choose to capture when the target is
blue.
