The problems described in the following table are some common operating faults. These types of errors are generally caused by improper
connections, incorrect operation settings, or operational errors due to incomplete programming. These problems are usually not caused by circuit
failures. Before you suspect that the transceiver has malfunctioned, please refer to these tables and relevant parts of this manual.
Possible Cause
Solution
REF.
The transceiver does not
turn ON.
1. The power cable is not connected well.
2. The power cable fuse is broken.
3. Operating voltage is more than 17V or less than 9V.
1. Check the power cable is connected correctly: red (+); black (-).
2. Find the cause of the blown fuse, replace the new fuse with 15A current.
3. Adjust the power supply to 13.8V.
Unable to connect with GPS.
1. Connection error.
2. External GPS format is different.
1. Check the connection is correct.
2. External GPS format should be NMEA 0183-2.0 or 3.01.
Unable to scan.
No TAG channel set.
Set the channel you want to scan as TAG channel.
11
Unable to transmit.
Work on Weather Channel or Channel 70.
Exit the weather channel or channel 70.
Can't select high power.
Some channels can only be transmitted at low power.
Select other channels.
Can’t communicate on same
channel.
1. The channel is duplex (DUP).
2. Working in a self-set channel group.
1. Select channel.
2. Set the channel frequency to the same.
No beep.
Beep tones are turned OFF.
Turn the beep tone ON in the Set mode.
Distress call cannot be transmitted.
MMSI (DSC self ID) code is not programmed.
While pressing and holding [MENU], power on to enter MMSI set mode.
No sound from the speaker.
1. Squelch level is too high.
2. The volume is too low.
3. Speaker grill water penetration.
1. Rotate [SQL] to adjust squelch level.
2. Rotate [VOL] to adjust volume.
3.Activate Vibration function to drain water away from speaker.
