Set mode is used to change the settings of the transceiver’s functions:
Scan Type, Scan Resume Tmer, Weather Alert, Dual/Tri-watch,
Operation Beep, LCD Backlight, LCD Contrast, AF Level Adjustment,
Favorite Channel and Remote ID.
Set mode operation method is as follows:
1. Power OFF.
2. While pressing and holding [16], power on to enter the Set mode.
3. When “SCAN” appears, release [16].
4. Press [16] to select a desired item.
5. Press [▲] or [▼] to select the desired setting of the item.
6. Power OFF, then power ON again to exit the Set mode.

The transceiver has two scan types: Normal scan and Priority
scan. Normal scan searches all TAG channels in the selected
channel group. Priority scan searches all TAG channels in
sequence while monitoring Channel 16.
The scan resume timer can be selected as OFF or ON. When OFF
is selected, the scan pauses until the signal disappears. When ON
is selected, the scan pauses 5 seconds and resumes even if a
signal has been received on any other channel than Channel 16.
A NOAA broadcast station transmits a weather alert tone before
important weather information. When the Weather Alert function is
ON, the transceiver detects the alert, then the “WX ALT” icon blinks
until the transceiver is operated. The previously selected (used)
weather channel is checked any time during standby or while
scanning.
“WX ALT” appears instead of “WX” indication when the function
is set ON.
