5. Press [ENT] to program and return to normal operation.
Distress Call
4. After setting the longitude data, press [ENT] to set the current UTC
time using [▲] or [▼].
Press [CH/WX] or [16] to move the cursor forward or backward.
Press [CLR] to cancel and exit the setting.
A Distress call should be transmitted whenever if the ship or a person
is in distress and requires immediate assistance.
Attention: NEVER use the Distress call when your ship or a persion is
not in an emergency. A Distress call can be used only when
immediate help is needed.
1. While lifting up the key cover, press and hold [DISTRESS] for 3
seconds to transmit the Distress call.
Emergency channel (Channel 70) is automatically selected and
the Distress call is transmitted.
While pressing and holding [DISTRESS], the key backlighting
blinks.
2. After transmitting the Distress call, the transceiver waits for an
acknowledgment call.
The Distress call is automatically transmitted every 3.5 to 4.5
minutes.
“DSC REPEAT” scrolls in the channel comment display on
Channel 16.
3. After receiving the acknowledgment, “RCV DISTRESS ACK” scrolls
in the channel comment display, reply using the microphone.
4. Press and hold [DISTRESS] for 3 seconds to transmit a renewed
Distress call, if desired.
5. Press any key other than the [DISTRESS] key to exit the Repeat
Call status.
