working height
only if the engine is
switched off and the cutter is not in
motion.
- Adjust the working height to avoid taking in
gravel or other objects.
- Look out for uneven places such as ruts,
manhole covers or paving stones.
- On flat ground, e.g. asphalt, the skid plates
(11, Fig.2) should be about 3 mm under the
scraping blade.
- On uneven ground, e.g. gravel paths, the skid
plates should be about 30 mm under the
scraping blade.
Always adjust the skid plates so that gravel
and stones are not fed into the snow
thrower. There is a risk for personal injury if
these are thrown out at high speed.
1. Place the machine on an level surface.
2. Loosen the two skid plate clamping screws
(1).
3. Raise the scraping blade to the desired
height and attach the skid plates. Make sure
that both skid plates are spaced equally so
that the scraping blade runs parallel to the
ground (2).
- If the skid plates are worn (sliding edge) (3),
turn 180° and use the other side.
Tyre pressure
Having the right tyre pressure is the main
condition for ensuring that the cutting deck is
perfectly horizontal. Unscrew the valve caps
and connect a compressed air line with a gauge
to the valves.
The maximum allowed t yre pressure is
indicated on the tyres (Fig.31).
Note: 1 bar = approximately 14.5 psi
Inspecting the machine
Each time before starting, check to make sure
that the four shear pins (1, Fig.32) are intact.
Replace broken shear pins with original
replacement par ts. Using unauthorised
replacement parts may cause severe damage to
the machine. 62-70 ELD - 72 ELDT models a
couple of shear pins are placed on the
dashboard (2).
Check all controls, safety devices, nuts and
screws on the machine to make sure that they
are firmly secured, in good condition and that
no parts are missing.
5.2 Using the Machine
WARNING: If you encounter a situation
where you are uncertain how to proceed
you should ask an expert. Contact your
local dealer or service workshop. Avoid
all usage which you consider to be
beyond your capability.
- Keep the handgrips and levers dry, clean,
and free of oil or fuel.
- Follow the instructions carefully when
starting the engine. Keep your feet well away
from the implements.
- Always walk. Never run with the machine.
- Always make sure you have adequate room
for manoeuvre, especially when working
close to walls, fences, hedges, vegetable
rows, garden features, greenhouses, etc. Do
not attempt reverse manoeuvres unless you
are sure you have adequate space.
- Disengage all clutches and shift into neutral
before starting the engine.
- Use a grounded three-wire plug-in for all
units with electric drive motors or electric
starting motors.
- Let engine and machine adjust to outdoor
temperatures before starting to clear snow.
- After starting, disconnect the cable use for
the electric start (62-70 ELD - 72 ELDT).
WARNING - Take great care when
changing direction, especially when
working on slopes.
WARNING - When driving downhill, do
not disengage the drive and do not
change gear.
- Do not modify the calibration of the engine
speed governor.
- Keep hands and feet well clear of rotating or
moving parts.
- Never lift the machine when the engine is
running.
- Slow down the engine before switching it
off.
