Chapter 2 Principles of Operation
2.1.03 Initialization
The printer is initialized whenever the power is turned ON or when the I-PRIME signal is received at the
parallel interface. Initialization is started when the RST-P signal is sent from the reset circuit to the MPUs
and LSIs.
When RST-P is generated, ROM program execution starts with the mode setting of Q8, Q9, Q12 and Q13.
Next, ROM and RAM are checked for errors, RAM is initialized and the carriage, bail and ribbon (color
model only) are homed. The program finally establishes the interface signals (output level of ACK, BUSY,
etc.), then turns the SELECT lamp ON to inform the host computer that the printer is ready to receive
data.
