3.14 Cable Assembly Replacement
The Q35 uses two cable assemblies. The upper cable assembly runs from the connection at the top of the frame to the
console. The lower cable assembly runs from the top of the frame to just below the right crank arm.
To replace the upper (console-to-frame) cable:
1. Unplug the unit. Remove the access panel and top cover according to the directions in Section 1.1.
2. Remove the four (4) Phillips screws securing the console to the console mast (Figure 3.21).
3. Disconnect the upper cable assembly from the back of the console (Figure 3.22) and from the connector at the top
of the frame (3.23). Remove the rubber gasket from the hole in the side of the mast, and pull the cable out of the
mast (Figure 3.23).
4. Connect a new cable to the back of the console, drop it down through the mast and pull it out through the side hole.
Replace the rubber gasket in the hole and connect the cable to the connection at the top of the frame.
5. Position the console on the console mast and secure with four (4) Phillips screws. Replace and secure the top cover
and access panel.
To replace the lower cable assembly:
1. Unplug the unit. Remove the access panel and right shroud according to the directions in Section 1.1.
2. Disconnect the lower cable assembly from the connector at the top of the frame (Figure 3.23) and from the three
connectors near the right crank arm (Figure 3.24).
3. Connect a new cable assembly to the connector at the top of the frame and to the three connectors near the crank
arm. The thicker, 5-pin connector connects to the servomotor. The 2-pin connector with black and orange wires
connects to the speed sensor. The remaining 2-pin connector connects to the power input.
4. Route the cable assembly along the frame and secure it with zip-ties. Cut the zip-ties securing the old cable
assembly and remove it.
5. Reposition and secure the top cover and access panel.
