Electronic Hook Switch (EHS)
OBi1032 and OBi1062 support professional wireless headsets adhering to the DHSG (
Drahtlose Hör-Sprechgarnitur)
standard, allowing calls to be answered or dropped by pressing a button on the headset itself instead of using the
headset button on the OBi Phone. For EHS to work, you need
-
A professional wireless headset that supports EHS based on the DHSG standard;
-
The headset manufacturer supplied cable for connecting the headset base-station with the OBi Phone;
-
The OBiEHS cable kit, which plugs into the OBi Phone at one end and interfaces with the headset
manufacturer supplied cable at the other end;
-
Enable EHS using the
. There are different flavors of DHSG, and you should select the option that is appropriate to your headset.
The OBiEHS cable has three ends, with plugs that differ in sizes. The RJ9 end (with the smallest plug) goes to the
headset port at the back of the OBi phone and provides audio. The RJ11 end (with a slightly larger plug) goes to the
AUX port of the OBi phone for control. Finally the RJ45 end (with the largest plug) either goes directly to the headset
base station (e.g. Sennheiser OfficeRunner), or to the adapter supplied with the OBiEHS kit and connects to the
headset manufacturer supplied EHS cable (e.g. APS-11 cable for Plantronics Savi).
With EHS properly setup and enabled, pressing the button on the wireless headset will in turns toggle the headset
button of the OBi Phone itself, turning the green LED on or off.
The following table lists the wireless headsets that have been tested and are known to work properly with the OBi
Phone:
