Protecting the Boot Manager with a Password
To prevent accidental or unauthorized access to the hard disk on your Nokia
IP560 security platform, you can require that the user enter a password to
access the boot manager install command. Use the
password
command to set
the password.
Note
The password you enter gives you access to the install command in boot
manager, not access to Nokia IPSO.
To set a password
1.
At the boot manager command prompt enter:
BOOTMGR[0]>
passwd
The passwd program prompts you for your current password.
2.
If the appliance is protected by a password, enter your current password.
The program prompts you for the new password.
3.
Enter the new password.
The program prompts you to re-enter the new password for verification.
4.
Enter the new password again.
Note
If you forget your install password, contact the appropriate
Nokia Customer Support site as listed in
“Nokia Contact Information”
on
page 3 for information on how to set a new one.
