You can also use a half-duplex LC-to-LC cable to loop back the transmit port
of an interface to the receiver port. LC and SC define the fiber optic connector
types. LC connectors are smaller than SC.
Two LC-to-SC cables are included with dual-port fiber optic Gigabit Ethernet
NICs. To order additional cables, contact your cable vendor.
Copper Gigabit Ethernet NIC
All Nokia copper Gigabit Ethernet NICs support cable autosensing. You can
use a straight-through or crossover cable to connect the NIC to a Gigabit hub
or switch or to connect directly to a host.
Replacing Power Supplies on the Nokia 500i
Gateway
The 500i gateway supports up to two power supplies for enhanced power
sharing and redundancy. The power supplies are hot swappable, and perform
load sharing while two active power supplies are connected in parallel. Load
sharing increases the life of the power supplies.
Note
On a gateway with two active power supplies installed, both power
supplies should be turned on for load sharing and redundancy. If both
power supplies are not turned on, the Fault LED illuminates.
The Nokia 500i gateway power supply units feel hot to the touch under
certain conditions. This happens when the units are connected to AC power,
but are not turned on. In this state the 3.3 V standby circuitry is powered,
causing the power supply unit to heat up. Because the unit is not turned on,
the integrated cooling fan is not on to cool the power supply unit.
