Installing and Replacing Optional Cards

Nokia 500i Installation Guide

Note
NICs in the 6U PMC carrier on the Nokia 500i are not hot swappable. You
must turn off power to the system before replacing NICs on the Nokia
500i gateway.

The fiber optic Gigabit Ethernet NICs provide the following features:

High bandwidth

Full-duplex mode operation up to 1 Gbps (no half-duplex support)

Link speed autoadvertising

Compliance with IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet specification

You can configure and manage Ethernet interfaces with Nokia VPN Manager
software. See the Nokia IP VPN Gateway Configuration Guide.
