2-8 Setup and Operation

POWER-ON SELF-TEST (POST)
Each time the system is powered on, the system checks the working status of components
through an automatic power-on self-test (POST). The test checks the system configuration
for any discrepancies. One beep means that POST is successful. If any problems in data
transfer or hardware exist, an error message appears.
If the message is an Invalid Configuration message, press
F1
to enter Auto Setup. The sys-
tem collects Auto Setup data and lists the changes detected in the current parameter set-
tings. Press
Enter
to review the settings, and make any necessary corrections. For more
complete information, see “Using Auto Setup to Select Parameters.”
If no error messages appear but the system still malfunctions, first check the items in the list
below, then turn to Section 4, Troubleshooting and Repair.

The power switch for each peripheral is on.
n
All cables and power cords are tightly connected.
n
The electrical outlet is working.
n
The brightness and contrast controls for the display are adjusted properly.

All options have been properly installed.
NOTE:
If the system parameters (date, time,
options, etc.) have not been entered for the pres-
ent configuration, enter them when you complete
the setup procedures (see “System Parameters”
in this section).
