Removing the Secondary Cache
The system comes with 256 KB synchronous pipeline burst secondary SRAM cache in-
stalled in the cache socket on the system board. Secondary cache increases system perform-
ance.
Use the following procedure to remove the cache module.
1.
Remove the system unit cover.
2.
If you have expansion boards obstructing the connector, remove the boards.
3.
Locate the cache on the system board (see “Option Installation Procedures” ear-
lier in the chapter).
4.
Pull up gently to remove the cache.
5.
Replace any boards that you may have removed during this procedure (see
“Installing an Expansion Board” earlier in this chapter).
Replace the system unit cover.
SIMM Removal
Remove SIMM sticks from the system board as follows.
1.
Remove the system unit cover, and any full size expansion boards as previously
described.
2.
Separate the two clips at each end of the SIMM stick (the clips are part of the
system board's connectors). Tilt the SIMM stick forward, allowing the post to
slide out of the hole in the SIMM stick.
