3-12 Disassembly and Reassembly
3 1/2-Inch Diskette Drive Removal
Remove the 3 1/2-inch diskette drive as follows.
1.
Remove the system unit cover as previously described.
2.
Remove the front panel as previously described.
3.
Label and unplug the signal and power cables from the back of the diskette
drive.
Note:
When reinstalling the diskette drive, note that all
power cables are keyed to fit only in the correct position.
4.
Remove the screws holding the diskette drive to the diskette drive bracket.
Access the bracket through the cutout in the chassis wall.
5.
Remove the diskette drive from the chassis.
5 1/4-Inch Device Removal
The following sections describe how to remove 5 1/4-inch accessible devices.
The lower 5 1/4-inch accessible device is removed in a different way than the
upper 5 1/4-inch accessible devices, and it includes removal of the 5 1/4-inch
accessible device cage.
Removing a 5 1/4-Inch Device from an Upper Bay
Use the following procedure to remove a 5 1/4-inch device from either of the
upper two 5 1/4-inch accessible device bays. If you are removing a device from
the lowest 5 1/4-inch bay, see “Removing a 5 1/4-Inch Device from the Lowest
Bay.”
1.
Remove both side covers of the system unit (see “Removing the Side
Covers”).
2.
Remove the front panel (see “Removing the Front Panel”).
3.
Label and disconnect the device cables.
4.
Remove the screws holding the device in the bay (see the figure on the
following page).
5.
Slide the device out of the device bay.
