Replacing the HEPA Filter
Required Items:
Screwdriver
To replace the HEPA filter:
1
Press the power switch to the
OFF
(O) position, then unplug the power cord.
2
Remove the upper white door seal, then loosen—but don’t remove—the screws
just inside the Drier door, behind the door stop (see Figure 4.1 on page 4-2).
3
Pull out and remove the front cover (see Figure 4.3 on page 4-3).
4
Unhook and remove the plenum hold-down springs (see Figure 4.4 on
page 4-4).
5
Disconnect the two thermal cut-out wires (see Figure 6.6 on page 6-13).
6
Lift the plenum off of the HEPA filter.
7
Remove the old filter, clean the area, then seat the new HEPA filter.
8
Set the plenum in place. Ensure that the plenum and filter are fully seated. Next,
reconnect the thermal cut-out wires, then reattach the hold-down springs.
9
Position the front cover, tighten the screws just inside the Drier door, then push
in the upper door seal.
NOTE
#
Use caution when handling the HEPA filter to avoid damaging it. Upon receipt of new
HEPA filters, inspect both sides for holes, tears, or rips—these conditions eliminate the
effectiveness of HEPA filters.
WARNING
Electrical shock hazard when the enclosure is open. Unplug the power cord from the
electrical outlet before cleaning this device.
NOTE
#
In Model 44, the left and right plenum assemblies are mirror images of one another. For
example, the thermal cut-out on the right plenum assembly is located on the back, while
that on the left is visible from the front.
CAUTION
Avoid damaging the HEPA filter. Holes, tears, and rips adversely affect filter function.
NOTE
#
The air flow indicator on the HEPA filter must point down.
