NOTE:
The Function button and eraser functionality of the pen are not
enabled when used with the Touch Screen Tablet PC.
For best results, we recommend that you calibrate your pen before using it
for the first time. For information about this and other pen procedures, refer
to “Calibrating and Using Your Pen” on page 27.
The Touch Screen Tablet PC provides a touch screen display for entering and
selecting data using a pointing device (finger, pen, or any non-abrasive, smooth,
blunt object that will not damage the touch screen display). The pointing device can
be calibrated for accuracy for entering or selecting data on the touch screen display.
For information about calibrating the pointing device, see “Calibrating and Using
Your Pen” on page 27.
Using the Touch Screen
A touch on the touch screen with a pointing device (finger or pen) is the same as a
mouse click. The following table shows the similarities between mouse functions
and touch functions:
Touch Screen Hover Mode
The Touch Screen Tablet PC provides a hover mode, which enables you to move
the pointing device (finger or pen) and screen cursor without making a data or
object selection (click, or click and drag). This is helpful when navigating menus.
To activate the hover mode on the touch screen:
Press and hold the
Function
button on the Tablet PC. An animation appears on the
touch screen indicating that the hover mode is active. For information about the
Tablet PC buttons, see “Configuring Tablet PC Buttons” on page 72.
In the hover mode, when moving your pointing device (finger or pen) on the touch
screen, the mouse pointer follows your pointing device and does not make a data or
object selection (click, or click and drag).
To end the hover mode session on the touch screen:
The hover mode remains active until you lift the pointing device off the touch
screen, which ends the hover session and resumes the default touch-selection
mode.
