Chapter 4 Maintenance
4-4
Cleaning the Platen
When you print on an openweave fabric, some parts of ink
pass through the fabric and adhere to the platen.
If you are worried about ink stain, clean ink adhering with
water as below. (about once a week)
1
Remove the fabric retainer.
• Slide the fabric retainer to the edge of the platen,
and remove it.
2
Clean the platen with water.
3
Wipe off dirty water remaining on the
platen with a waste cloth etc.
4
Remove the waste ink tank.
5
Remove the fabric retainer.
Cleaning of grit roller
Remove pre-treatment agent or lint adhering to the grit
roller with the resin brush periodically.
1
Turn the power switch OFF.
• Tilt the power switch to the "O" side.
2
Open the front cover and raise the clamp
lever.
3
Wipe the surface of the grit roller with the
brush to remove blot.
• Wipe the surface of the grit roller for several times
lightly.
• Brush the circumference of the grit roller while
rotating the right side of it with your fingers.
• Wipe off dirty edge of the brush with a dry cloth.
• If the dirt is hard to remove, try putting some water
on the brush.
• Water on the platen flows into the waste
ink tank on the left. Be careful not to let
dirty water overflow out of the waste ink
tank.
• Be careful not to flash a large amount of
water. It may cause the overflow of water
from inside the platen.
• Waste ink is equivalent to waste oil of
industrial waste. Request an industrial
waste disposal company for disposal of
waste ink.
• Clean the grit roller periodically.
• In some cases and depending on media pre-
treatment agent, if it is left on the grit roller, it may
cause rust.
• If rust is generated on the grit roller, there is the
fear that it cannot feed the media normally.
• Be sure to clean the grit roller with resin
brush. If you wipe off with a fabric or a
paper, lint may adhere to concavity and
convexity parts. In addition, if you use a
hard metallic brush etc., it may scratch the
grit roller.
• After brushing using water, feed some
unnecessary media to remove any
moisture.
