Chapter 3 Setup
Setting MAPS4 Function (MANUAL)

and press the

• SETUP MENU will be displayed.

• To select “AUTO” for the setting, refer to P.3-9
“Setting MAPS4 Function (AUTO)”.

to select the “Speed” (50
to 100%), and press the
key.
• Select a speed for printing. By using standard
quality printing as reference, set in the direction of
minus (-) to decrease the print speed, and set in
the direction of plus (+) to increase the print
speed.

to select the "Smoothing
Lv.”, and press the
key.

Press
to change the smoothing
level, and press the
key.
• Set Value : 0 to 100% (set in units of 5%)
• The MAPS4 effect become strong as the set value
increase, and become weak as the set value decrease.

key several times to
end the setting.
Setting Auto Cleaning
You can set the machine so that it counts the number of
printed files or the length or time after printing has been
completed, and performs cleaning automatically if required.
You can select the auto cleaning setting from four types
below:
• DEFAULT : The cleaning operation units and intervals
differ depending on the type of ink to be
used or the operating environment. Refer
to the table below for more information.
• PAGE
: Set the cleaning intervals by the number
of printed files.
• LENGTH
: Set the cleaning intervals by the printed
length.
• TIME
: Set the cleaning intervals by the printed
time.
The functions listed below are also available.

Cleaning Check function
Automatic nozzle check after auto cleaning can be set.
•
Select Cleaning Operation Timing function
The cleaning operation timing can be set when “LENGTH” or
“TIME” is selected as the unit for cleaning.
The machine can perform a stable printing operation with
its heads always kept clean.

• If the speed is changed, NOZZLE RECOVERY

Conditions for Cleaning in “DEFAULT” Mode
The conditions for cleaning differ depending on the
type of ink to be used and the operating environment
as indicated in the table below.

• The “-” mark in the table indicates that the auto-
cleaning operation is not carried out.
• If you select “DEFAULT”, the cleaning type is
automatically set to “NORMAL”. Even if you
select a configuration other than “DEFAULT”, the
cleaning operation is carried out automatically
once the interval set with the conditions specified
in the table above is exceeded.
