Break Before Make
checkbox: When selected, the scanner ensures that channel selected has
completely settled before it connects to another channel. Deselecting this option increases
scan speed, but introduces the of input channels potentially being shorted to each other for a
short time.
Notes on Web Page Use
If a DMM configuration cannot be found in the
Sweep Wizard
drop menu, it may be because the
channel is not capable of that type of measurement. Use the
Filter channels by available
function
drop-down to show only channels capable of a particular DMM function.
Also note that multiple channels can be configured simultaneously using
Shift+Click
or
Ctrl+Click
. To select multiple, consecutive channels, select the first channel in the series, then
Shift+Click
the last channel that will have the same configuration. To select non-consecutive
channels, use
Ctrl+Click
to select each channel. Once all channels have been selected, right click
on one of the selected channels to see the options provided in Figure 7-7.
DMM Configuration Manager
Clicking on the
DMM Configs
button will open the
DMM Configuration Manager
. From here,
up to 64 different DMM configurations can be defined and used in conjunction with the sweep
phase of the scanlist.

ANAGER
Name
: Allows the user to define a name for the DMMs configuration. Once defined, this
name appears in the
DMM Configs
section of the Sweep Wizard.
Function
: Indicates the DMM function which will be used with the current setting. Functions
include:
DC Volts
,
AC Volts
,
DC Current
,
AC Current
,
2W Ohms
,
4W Ohms
,
Frequency
,
Period
, and
Temperature
.
Option
: Indicates whether the
HIZ
or
10 M
(Ω) mode of operation has been selected.
Range
: Indicates the voltage range the DMM will use when a measurement is taken in this
configuration. The ranges are:
Auto Range On
,
Auto Range Off
,
Auto Range Once
,
100 mV
,
1 V
,
10 V
,
100 V
, and
300 V
. The
Auto Range
function allows the DMM to select
the range automatically as a function of voltage applied to the channel. When
Auto Range
Off
is selected, the EX1200A will use the range last range to which the EX1200A was set.
Digits
: Indicates the number of significant digits the DMM will use during the measurement.
Aperture Time
: Indicates the time, in seconds, over which the DMM will integrate the
analog inputs. The longer the time, the more accurate the reading. Valid values vary
depending on the power line frequency and the mode setting.
