Make sure of the following before performing
tasks in the engine compartment:

Switch the ignition off.

Never touch the danger zone surround‐
ing moving component parts, e.g. the
rotation area of the fan.

Remove jewelry and watches.
#
Keep items of clothing and hair away
from moving parts.

WARNING Risk of burns from hot com‐
ponent parts in the engine compartment
Certain component parts in the engine com‐
partment can be very hot, e.g. the engine, the
cooler and parts of the exhaust system.
#
Let the engine cool down and only
touch the component parts described
as follows.
If you have to carry out any work in the engine
compartment, touch only the following compo‐
nents:

washer fluid reservoir cap

coolant expansion reservoir cap

component parts.

Allow the engine and the exhaust sys‐
tem to cool down.

Vehicles with a diesel engine: delayed
drainage of the fuel filter can lead to engine
damage.
If the

indicator lamp lights up, drain the
fuel filter immediately.
