BAS supports your emergency braking situation
with additional brake force.
If you depress the brake pedal quickly, BAS is
activated:

BAS automatically boosts the brake pres‐
sure.

BAS can shorten the braking distance.
R
ABS prevents the wheels from locking.
The brakes will function as usual once you
release the brake pedal. BAS is deactivated.

and traction in the following situations, within
physical limits:

When pulling away on wet or slippery road‐
way.
R
When braking.
R
In strong side winds when you are driving
faster than 50 mph (80 km/h).
If the vehicle deviates from the direction desired
by the driver, ESP
®
can stabilize the vehicle by
intervening in the following ways:
R
One or more wheels are braked.
R
The engine output is adapted according to
the situation.

is deactivated if the

ing lamp lights up continuously in the instrument

Driving stability will no longer be improved.
