Breaker Manufacturer and Curve Selection

Breaker Type
–
There are two Breaker Types to choose from, Air Frame, and Molded Case.
Curve Manufacturer
– Touch or click on the window and the user will be presented with a list of various
manufacturers for which the STVI software has time curves. If a particular breaker manufacturer is not
present in the listing, it means that the manufacturer is not available, or it may be a new device which has
not yet been programmed into the STVI software. Check the Megger website for a possible STVI
upgrade download. New STVI upgrades are available from time to time, which may include new
manufacturers, or new breakers.
Curve Family
– Curve Family only appears when selecting Molded Case Breakers. Touch or click in the
window and the user will be presented with a list of various Family of molded case breakers from the
Manufacturer for which there are time curves programmed into the STVI software. If a particular family of
molded case breakers is not present in the listing, it means that the manufacturers
’ family of molded case
breakers is not available, or it may be a new device which has not yet been programmed into the STVI
software. Check the Megger website for a possible STVI upgrade download. New STVI upgrades are
available from time to time, which may include new time curves families.
Curve Model -
Touch or click in the window and the user will be presented with a list of various Models of
either molded case, or air frame breakers from the Manufacturer for which there are time curves
programmed into the STVI software. If a particular model is not present in the listing, it means that the
manufacturers’ model of circuit breaker is not available, or it may be a new device which has yet not been
programmed into the STVI software. Check the Megger website for a possible STVI upgrade downloads.
New STVI upgrades are available from time to time, which may include new models and time curves.
Curve
Trip Unit / Name
– Depending on the model device under test there may only be one choice
available. For example, for Molded Case Breakers, the Trip unit will be Thermal Magnetic for time delay
and instantaneous trip operation. Curve Name may include whether or not it is a single pole or a multi
pole breaker and it’s rating in amps.
