OPERATION OF THE SG32-1500M
SG32-UG-EN-V01 Dec 2016
27
2.
Set the Voltage Range switch (item 18) to the desired range either 16 or
32kV.
3.
Set the rotary Test Mode knob (item 17) to the PROOF/BURN & SURGE
test Modes. Both PROOF/BURN & SURGE test Mode pushbutton’s Blue
LEDs will illuminate, indicating that either of these test modes are now
available for selection.
4.
Push the PROOF/BURN pushbutton (item 16). The test mode selection is
confirmed by the PROOF/BURN pushbutton Blue LED remaining
illuminated, and the SURGE pushbutton Blue LED extinguishing. The HV
ON Pushbutton (item 22) Green LED will illuminate.
5.
Push the HV ON pushbutton (item 22) and the selected test voltage will be
applied to the cable under test. The HV ON Green LED will go out and the
HV OFF pushbutton (item 23) Red LED will come on.
6.
The required test voltage is set by using the High Voltage Control knob (item
19). This voltage is displayed on the analogue D.C. Kilovolt meter (item 12).
7.
The integrity of the cable under test can now be assessed by reviewing a)
breakdown voltage and b) leakage current.
8.
Push the HV OFF pushbutton (item 23) and the selected test voltage will be
removed from the cable under test. The HV OFF pushbutton Red LED will
go out and the HV ON pushbutton (item 22) Green LED will come on. The
unit will remain in the PROOF/BURN test Mode.
9.
To deselect the test mode, push the PROOF/BURN pushbutton (item 16),
which also engages the internal earthing/grounding and removes any High
Voltage. Both PROOF/BURN & SURGE test Mode pushbuttons’ Blue
LEDs will illuminate, indicating that either of these test modes are now
available for selection.
D.C. Dielectric Proof/Burn
1.
S Set the High Voltage Control Knob (item 19) to the “Zero Start” position
(item 10).
If the rotary High Voltage Control Knob (item 12) is not set to the “Zero
Start” position prior to pushing the HV ON pushbutton, a “Zero Start”
interlock error will occur causing the “ZERO START” interlock error LED
(item2) to be illuminated momentarily and the selected test mode will be
cancelled.
NOTE: The position of the Voltage Range and Test Mode switches cannot be moved
while a particular test mode is activated (mechanical interlock).
