CONTROL OF PRINTING POWER
The printer is equipped with a 2-stage history control. The peak current can be adjusted by setting the max. number of
dots that can be heated at the same time. In order to achieve a high printing speed, the number of dots should be at least
half the printhead dots. If there is a restriction, the printer will reduce its printing speed according to the available /
allowed peak current.
5.1
CALCULATION OF THE PRINTING CURRENT
V
p
:
applied voltage
#dots: number of simultaneously heated dots = 160 - parameter 18,8 = 20
I
peak
:
peak current during printing
I
mot
:
stepper motor current = approx. 0.35 A
I
logic
:
approx. 0.05 A
R
dot
:
resistance of heating elements
HSP-2208 : R
dot
= 650 ohm
HSP-3208 : R
dot
= 650 ohm
HSP-2128 : R
dot
= 300 ohm (@12 V)
HSP-3512 : R
dot
= 800 ohm
R
L
:
resistance from power connector J2 to dot line = approx. 0.25 ohm (measured)
R
cables
: resistance of cables, plugs, Ri power supply (not considered here!)
I
peak
= (V
p
/ (R
dot
/ #dots) +R
L
+R
cables
) + I
mot
+ I
logic
Example:
V
p
= 24 V, R
dot
= 650 ohm, #dots= 160
I
peak
= (24 V / (650/160) +0.25 ohm + R
cables
) +0.35 A + 0.05 A = 5.97 A
At 24 V the calculated peak current is 5.97 A.
The mean print current is less than half of the peak current I
peak
, depending on the print image.
