CRANKSHAFT OIL SEALS

Extracting the rear radial shaft seal

Removing the cylinder head cover, cylinder 1

• Unscrew the mounting bolts (2)
• Remove the cylinder head cover (1)

Attaching the engine barring gear

• Remove the cap with seal and TDC marking plate

from the ywheel housing

• Clean the sealing surfaces
• Mount and lock the

Engine barring gear [115]

(1)

Checking the valves for unobstructed
movement, 1st cylinder

• Check the rocker arms (1) and (2) for the 1st

cylinder for unobstructed movement

If the 1st cylinder rocker arms (1) and (2) cannot
move unobstructed, crank the engine a further 360°
using the engine barring gear.

Attaching the cylinder head cover, cylinder 1

• Check the seal and, if necessary, replace it
• Fit the cylinder head cover (1)
• Screw in and tighten the mounting bolts (2)
