CYLINDER HEAD

Checking and setting the valve
clearance

Detaching the cylinder head cover, cylinder 1

• Unscrew the mounting bolts (2)
• Remove the cylinder head cover (1)

Attaching the engine barring gear

• Remove the cap with seal and TDC marking plate

from the ywheel housing

• Attach the

Engine barring gear [95]

(1) on the

ywheel housing

Cranking the engine to the setting position

A = Rocker arms in overlap
B = Rocker arms free for valve clearance

setting

• Crank the engine until the rocker arms are in

overlap

• Adjust the free rocker arms as indicated in the

table above

Checking the intake valve clearance

• Insert the (1) with (2) between the valve bridge (3)

and the ball socket (4)

Adjust the valve clearance if the valve clearance is
not

0.50 mm
