CRANKCASE
Checking the cylinder liner
Checking the cylinder liner seating
• Check the seat (2) of the cylinder liner with Depth
gauge (electronic) [175] (1)
• Check the cylinder liner seat (2) at four
opposite-facing points
The permitted collar recess depth is 9.850 – 10.150
mm
If the collar recess depth is out of tolerance, t a new
crankcase and cylinder liners.
Measuring the cylinder liner standout
• Put the Measuring plate [172] (2) on the cylinder
liner
• Screw in the Bolt [173] (4) with the Washer [174]
and tighten to 40 Nm
• Place the Dial gauge holder [170] (5) with Dial
gauge [171] (3) on Measuring plate [172] (2)
• Place the dial gauge tip (1) on the crankcase
• Zero the
Dial gauge [171] (3)
• Carefully place the dial gauge tip (1) on the
cylinder liner and note the difference on the dial
gauge
The permissible cylinder liner standout is 0.035 –
0.085 mm .
If the cylinder liner standout is out of tolerance, t a
new cylinder liner/crankcase.

• Lightly apply clean engine oil to MAN Standard
3277 on the new sectional sealing rings (1) and
(2) and then insert them into the sectional sealing
ring seats (4)
• Insert the cylinder liner (3) into the crankcase as
marked and push it in as far as the stop
