What To Do:
Check to see if there is a grease fire in the grill.
Ÿ
If so, immediately turn the grill completely OFF.
Ÿ
Remove the food from the grill and shut the lid until the fire dies out.
Ÿ
Once the grease fire is out restart the grill.
Ÿ
When it comes up to temperature, place the food back on the grill and
resume cooking.
Ÿ
If the temperature has spiked and exceeded the SETPOINT by 100F,
press any button to stop the alarm. Open the grill lid for a couple of
minutes to allow the excess heat to escape.
Flame Out Alarm:
Description:
This alarm Indicates that the fire in the firepot has gone out
and the grill cannot relight. The Pellet Boss® display will show
FLAMEOUT/FIREPOT.
What To Do:
Press any button to end the alarm. Carefully remove all of
the food from the grill. When the grill is cool enough, safely remove the
cooking grates, grease pan and heat diffuser. Remove the firepot and
dispose of the pellets and ash into a non-combustible container. Re-
secure your firepot, put all of the interior components back inside the grill.
Restart the grill, allow it to come back up to temperature, place the food
back into the cooking chamber and resume cooking.
Meat Probe Alarm(s):
Description:
When a probe reaches the programmed temperature, the
Pellet Boss® will beep and the appropriate PROBE screen will flash.
What To Do:
Press any button to end the alarm. Check the temperature
of the food you are cooking to confirm that it is at the temperature you
want. If so, remove the probe from the food and then remove the food
from the grill.
Meat Probe Alert(s):
Description:
There are three alerts associated with the meat probes. (not
to be confused with a meat probe alarm):

CHK=displays whenever the meat probe is not properly plugged in to
the Pellet Boss®
Ÿ
LOW=when the internal temperature of the food the probe is inserted
into is 32F or lower.
Ÿ
HIGH=when the internal temperature of the food the probe is inserted
into is above 225F.

What To Do:
Ÿ
CHK: Make sure the probe plug is pushed all the way into the input
jack.
Ÿ
LOW=This should change to a normal temperature reading once the
meat begins to cook.
Ÿ
HIGH=The internal food temperature is above 225F, or the probe has
stopped functioning.
Ÿ
Check the internal temperature with another probe or thermometer. If
the temperature is lower than 225F, it would indicate that the probe
has stopped working. Contact MAK Grills for a replacement.
Power Interruption:
Description:
The Pellet Boss® will beep and the display screen will show
POWER INTERRUPTION. This indicates that electrical power to the grill
has been interrupted by a surge or power outage.
What To Do:
Remove any food from the grill and put it into the trash or
refrigerator.

Restart the grill and start over again.
Ÿ
Or, take your chances and once the grill has reignited and come back
to temperature, put the food back on and finish cooking it.
Ÿ
Make sure that the internal temperature is above 140F to avoid food
poisoning.
Setpoint Alert:
Description:
Once the grill has attained the selected cooking
temperature, the Pellet Boss® will beep (3) three times to alert you that
the grill is at the desired cooking temperature.
What To Do: There are no adjustments required. Put the food on the grill
and let it cook.
Timer Alarm:
Description:
The Pellet Boss® will begin to beep after the TIMER has
been activated and reaches 00:00.
What To Do: Press any button to end the alarm.
User 1,2 or 3 (Cooking Program):
Description:
When a USER program is in operation, the Pellet Boss® will
beep (3) three times whenever the program advances to the next step.
What To Do: There are no steps that need to be taken.
