Following precautions below and those outlined in CGA Standard P-1, Precautions
For Safe Handling Of Compressed Gases In Cylinders.
•
Cylinders - Handle carefully to prevent damage. Keep away from welding
cables or other electrical circuits. Use only cylinders with name of gas marked
on them; DO NOT rely on color identification. Close valves on empties and
return promptly. Secure cylinders so they cannot be knocked over. Keep
temperature below 130˚ F.
•
Pressure Regulators - Use the correct regulator for the gas and cylinder at
hand. Remove any suspected faulty regulator and return to manufacturer's
service center for repair.

Install Interconnect Power Cable - Pipemaster to Water Circulator
ATTENTION
:
Turn the Main Power Switch off before connecting or disconnecting any
cables at the rear of the power source to prevent possible damage to
the electrical circuitry.
Connect the Water Circulator cable to the Quick Disconnect Couplings marked "WC" on the
power source (See Section 14).
5.6 Connect
Weld
Head
ATTENTION
:
Turn the Main Power Switch off before connecting or disconnecting any
cables at the rear of the power source to prevent possible damage to
the electrical circuitry.
5.6.1
Connect the Head Control Cable at the end of the Head umbilical assembly to the
receptacle on the side panel of the Pipemaster marked "Weld Head".
5.6.2
Connect the gas hose of the weld Head to the quick disconnect coupling marked
"Gas Out".
5.6.3
Connect the weld Head power cable to the negative (-) terminal of the power
module.
5.6.4
Connect the water hoses of the torch cable to the two (2) water fittings on the rear
panel of the Water Circulator. The two quick disconnects are “sexed” and cannot
be incorrectly installed.
5.6.5
Connect the "Work" Cable to the positive (+) terminal of the Pipemaster. (When
using the C-Heads, do not use the Work Cable, but instead connect the weld
Head Work Cable to the (+) terminal.
5.7
Ready for Welding - Power Switch on
5.7.1
Following completion of Sections 3.1 - 3.7, the Power Switch may be turned to
the "On" position.
5.7.2
The pump in the Water Circulator should self-prime, and water should flow
through the Torch Cable.
5.7.3
Using the “soft key” Purge Switch on the Pendant, manually purge the torch cable
gas hoses for several minutes. (An indicator will appear on the LCD when the
purge gas has been manually turned on.)
5.7.4
The system is now ready for welding. Consult the Weld Head manual for a
description of Weld Head operation.
